Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau Launches World’s First Travel Marketing Campaign To Feature Transgender Models

Groundbreaking Multi-Audience Advertising Campaign Launching In Mainstream and LGBT Media

The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau will launch a new global marketing and advertising campaign on January 9th featuring three transgender models, and will become the world’s first destination to use transgender models in mainstream destination advertising. Greater Fort Lauderdale‘s campaign, which also features straight, gay and lesbian models, follows the destination’s long and storied history in LGBTQ marketing and is directed at a largely millennial and younger mind-set audience to showcase the destination’s image as an authentic, diverse and inclusive brand.Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau Logo

From the seagrass to the sawgrass, Greater Fort Lauderdale, located in Broward County, boasts more than 34,000 lodging accommodations at a variety of hotels, luxury spa resorts, and Superior Small Lodgings reflecting a “beach chic” vibe. Visitors enjoy 23 miles of Blue Wave certified beaches, discover 300+ miles of inland waterways that run from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Everglades, dine at thousands of restaurants and eateries, get immersed in a thriving arts and culture scene and indulge in top shopping.sunny-org_hero-2

The new advertisements, covering a full-spectrum of destination lifestyle experiences, will appear in print, digital, television, radio and social media throughout South Florida, New York, Boston, Chicago, and in national outlets such as New York TimesT Magazine, USA Today Travel Magazine, Passport, ManAboutWorld as well as on Spotify, Pandora, Hulu and in the destination’s collateral, website and e-blasts.

The campaign had an early premiere in New York City on December 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017 with a Times Square billboard video featuring Isabella Santiago, a Venezuelan model and 2014 Miss World Transgender. Viewed by millions, the video formed the backdrop to New York City’s famous New Year’s Eve ball drop. Campaign imagery was shot throughout Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County, capturing a “beach and beyond” showcase of some of the destination’s most popular areas, including Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hallandale Beach, Deerfield Beach and Wilton Manors.

Using Trans models in our mainstream campaign says who we are as a destination; cosmopolitan, edgy, diverse, inclusive, authentic and accepting,” said Richard Gray, Managing Director LGBTQ Market, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We are the only destination in the world that is using Trans people in mainstream marketing initiatives. That is a huge statement in itself highlighting this destination’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality. We want all travelers that visit our destination to be free to be themselves, to be free to be accepted, and most of all to be safe and respected.

Greater Fort Lauderdale recently celebrated another destination first: in December, they were the first CVB to launch a 24/7 digital TV network – “Hello Sunny TV” – highlighting the destination’s growing appeal to affluent and millennial travelers. The Hello Sunny TV network will include a weekly live show planned to launch in early 2017 which will preview the upcoming week’s events and activities, as well as a dining segment and spotlight on the people and personalities behind Greater Fort Lauderdale. Hello Sunny TV and Greater Fort Lauderdale‘s new advertising campaign were developed by the CVB’s advertising agency, Starmark International.

I’m proud that we continue to be a leader in marketing innovation,” said Stacy Ritter, President/CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. We’ve established a popular and highly recognized destination brand presence that reflects the authentic experiences that people today, regardless of age, gender, religion or race, seek when they travel.”100 Continue reading

Travel America 2017: Explore Southern California on a California Wines Road Trip

Wine Institute Series Offers Tips on How to Sip, Stay and Play in Wine Country, from Temecula and San Diego to Los Angelessome-200-wineries-and-world-class-attractions-make-southern-california-a-top-destination-for-wine-consumers

California’s many scenic wine regions offer a wide variety of experiences and wines to enjoy. California is the number one U.S. state for wine and food tourism with dozens of wine regions, 138 American Viticultural Areas and 4,600 wineries that produce 85 percent of U.S. wine. Established in 1934, The Wine Institute is the public policy association of nearly 1,000 California wineries.

To help visitors explore them all, The Wine Institute’s California Wines Road Trip series highlights a different region each month. To ring in the new year in style, consider taking a trip to Southern California, a region famous not only for surfing, Hollywood and iconic theme parks, but also home to several surprising wine regions, from Temecula Valley and San Diego County to Cucamonga Valley and the Los Angeles area.

SIP: Southern California’s wine region is home to well over 200 tasting rooms, wineries and vineyards.  Taste your way through this roster of Southern California wineries or use the discovercaliforniawines.com interactive map to search wineries by amenities such as tours, gardens, art, food for purchase and more.  Wine lovers can choose a variety of ways to sip.  Explore the San Diego Urban Wine Trail or leave the car behind and board the San Diego Wine Train Tour, where you can enjoy coastal scenery and tastes at urban wineries and restaurants.

Wine trails are a great way to sip, such as the acclaimed North Mountain Wine Trail, 25 miles south of Temecula Valley in East San Diego County.  In Temecula Valley, 60 minutes from San Diego and 90 minutes from Los Angeles, the De Portola Wine Trail features wineries set in a rural, equestrian area, while the off-the-beaten path Calle Contento Wine Trail offers sweeping views.  North of Los Angeles, try the Ventura County Wine Trail with its artisan wineries, outlet shopping, fine dining and five top museums or the Malibu Wine Trail with the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains and Pacific Ocean as a backdrop.

STAY:  There are any number of wine country resorts, golf resorts, boutiques and bed and breakfast inns in Southern California, from Temecula Valley and San Diego to Los Angeles and Ventura.  Stay on site at a winery at Temecula’s South Coast WineryPonte Vineyard Inn and Wilson Creek Winery.

PLAY:  Southern California offers many ways to play while enjoying wine county.  See movie sets and catch a glimpse of a celebrity on the Malibu Wine Tasting & Sightseeing Tour.  In Ventura County, take part in guided weekend Sip & Savor Wine Tours, starting from Ventura’s historic downtown.  In Temecula Valley, visitors can pedal to their favorite wineries, or take a hot air balloon ride over vineyards.  Explore the historic Gaslamp Quarter‘s shopping, galleries and dining, paired with a So Diego Tours walking wine tasting tour.  Moving inland, wine lovers can enjoy wine country towns in Ramona Valley, including the gold-mining town of Julian and Ramona with its numerous antique shops — about 15 minutes away from the world-famous San Diego Zoo.  Other favorite towns include Fallbrook and Escondido, both of which have thriving art and dining scenes.

MAKE:  Apple pies are a specialty in Julian, and you can learn how to make them at Mom’s Pies.  Aspiring amateur chefs can enjoy any number of cooking classes in San Diego, or sample hands-on educational programs at many wineries or wine schools such as Wine Smarties in San Diego.  Combine these passions at Curds and Wine, where guests learn to make wine and cheese.  Make great art with wine as your muse at Red Brick Art‘s Paint & Sip classes at a local Ventura winery.  Or take a fun hands-on cooking class at a Temecula winery with take-home material to make cooking at home successful.

GROWThe South Coast AVA is the largest viticultural area in the region, stretching from Malibu to the Mexican border.  San Diego County is home to 115 wineries and where California wine began.  Franciscan monks planted winegrapes in 1769 and produced wine at California’s first mission, Mission San Diego del Alcala.  Today, about 60 varieties are farmed by its small, family owned wineries.  Temecula Valley is a viticultural area in Riverside County, located between Los Angeles and San Diego, home to more than 40 wineries.  The region’s Mediterranean climate is marked by warm days moderated by cool ocean breezes at night — producing a veritable A-Z of grapes.  East of Los Angeles, the Cucamonga Valley known for Old-Vine Zinfandels and Port-style wines — was a dominant region during the first half of the last century and some founding families are still making wine here.  North of Los Angeles, visit the Malibu Coast Wine Trail and its seven wineries growing limited production wines in this marine climate near the Santa Monica Mountains.  Ventura County’s dozen wineries are all located within minutes of each other in a casual coastal setting. Originally built in 1992 and designed by Tom Fazio, the golf course was enhanced by Fazio for its October 2014 reopening. Enhancements included creating a completely new hole and renovated bunkers, plus improved visibility and airflow by enhancing the landscape design, in addition to a fully renovated clubhouse. The course is a par 71 and plays to 6,901 yards. Home to abundant wildlife, the course is certified by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program for golf by the National Audubon Society.four-seasons-logo-hres-htm

It’s very exciting for Tranquilo Golf Club to host this special tournament in its second year and to be put in the national spotlight on the Golf Channel,” said Charlie Kent, Director of Golf at Four Seasons Resort Orlando. “Our team has been working hard over the past few months to ensure the course is in impeccable condition for this main event. We could not be more thrilled to work with Diamond Resorts International and their team on this amazing tournament.” Continue reading

Wine Spectator Ranks Domaine Serene Chardonnay No. 1 White Wine of the Year for 2016

Winery’s 2014 Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay Garners First-Ever Top-10 Wine of the Year Recognition For An Oregon Chardonnay;

Only Winery To Achieve Top-3 Recognition For Both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of the Yearwine-spectator-ranks-domaine-serene-chardonnay-no-1-white-wine-of-the-year-for-2016-null-hr

The Wine Spectator magazine announced today that Domaine Serene 2014 Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay has been ranked #2 Wine of the Year in their list of the Top 100 Wines of Year, making it their top-ranked white wine of 2016. Domaine Serene’s achievement at the head of this prestigious collection of leading wineries from around the world is yet another major accolade for the Oregon wine region, which has risen to elite status among international wine critics during the past two decades as both a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer.

A passion to produce exquisite Pinot Noir led Ken and Grace Evenstad to Oregon in 1989. When the time came to pursue their longtime dream of planting vineyards and producing world-class Pinot Noir, they invested in a 42-acre hilltop estate property that had just been logged in the Dundee Hills of Oregon. Today, Domaine Serene produces wines from six individual vineyard estates, planted exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each estate offers a diversity of soils, clones, rootstocks, microclimates, slopes and elevations that add distinguishing complexity and elegance to the wines. The Eevenstads insist on dry-farming their low-yielding, LIVE certified-sustainable vineyards, ensuring maximum expression of complexity and balance in the fruit. In 2001, they completed construction of their picturesque, state-of-the art, five-level, gravity flow winery that was built to over-vintage wines in barrel while also holding up to three vintages in bottle prior to release. Guided by an unwavering commitment to quality, philanthropy and multi-generational sustainability, the Evenstads have garnered global recognition as iconic producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.domaine-serene-evenstad-reserve-chardonnay-label-nonvin1-1

Commenting on the announcement, winery owner and co-founder Grace Evenstad noted the progress Oregon has made with Chardonnay since she established Domaine Serene with her husband in 1989. “Wine growers around the world work hard every day to reach the highest potential for their particular terroir and wine style,” she said. “We are happy to see the quality of our Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay recognized by the Wine Spectator. It validates our belief in Oregon as one of the very best places on the planet for producing world-class Chardonnay.”

Domaine Serene’s primary focus has always been creating preeminent Pinot Noir, but after coming to see the region’s quality potential in their first Chardonnay release of the 1997 vintage, the Evenstads have continued to make substantial investments in the varietal through the years. Ken Evenstad attributes their success to date to a combination of factors. “On volcanic Jory soil, at high elevations, with Dijon clone Chardonnay vines and dry farming, the wine that we can produce here in Oregon is absolutely magical,” he stated. Not satisfied with past achievements, the winery is preparing to break ground in early 2017 on a stand-alone, gravity-flow facility near the existing winery building, exclusively dedicated to white and sparkling wines.

The Evenstad’s commitment to Chardonnay appears to have paid off as evidenced by a track record of critical acclaim unparalleled in the Pacific Northwest region. This most recent Top-2 recognition for Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay makes it the Wine Spectator’s top-ranked white wine of 2016, and only the fourth Chardonnay to be ranked #1 or # 2 from any global wine region since the magazine’s Top 100 list was created in 1988. Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam, rests on a tranquil 1-kilometre (half mile) stretch of Ha My Beach, just 11 kilometres (7 miles) north of the UNESCO city of Hoi An in Quang Nam province on Vietnam’s central coast. An ancient trading port, Hoi An had the largest harbour in Southeast Asia in the 1st century and even opened its own stoneware kilns in the 15th century to support the growing popularity of the Japanese tea ritual. Both Christianity and Buddhism found their way to Vietnam’s shores via Hoi An in the 17th century, and today its eclectic collection of some 87 pagodas, temples and communal houses, and 82 ancient tube-shaped houses – many located on original streets – stand testament to its vibrant ancient personality.

Da Nang, a modern burst of energy and increasing exuberance that lines the gleaming Han riverfront, lies 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) north of the Resort. Towering hotels, neon-lit bars and trendy restaurants now jostle for space on its once sleepy streets and the sparkling river is now criss-crossed by spectacular bridges (including an east and west connecting swing bridge and fire-breathing Dragon Bridge), yet some things remain as pristine as ever – namely the gorgeous 32-kilometre (20-mile) curl of Da Nang Beach.

The best is about to get even better as we unveil new features and experiences for our guests, all wrapped in the legendary service for which Four Seasons is known the world over,” says General Manager Anthony Gill, who has led the Resort team for four years. “Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai on Ha My beach is a special place, both a sanctuary and a playground for the culturally curious, beach lovers, active families, culinary connoisseurs and spiritual seekers.”

Guests of Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai will find refreshed villas, an enhanced beach program plus new beach bar, a new concept for its serene lagoon spa, and a new Vietnamese cooking academy. Families will especially enjoy the new family villas with special features for parents and children, and the new, fully supervised kids club loaded with indoor and outdoor fun.

In a beautiful setting perched over a lotus pond, The Heart of the Earth Spa is a haven of calm, connection and compassion. Inspired by renowned Vietnamese Zen master, scholar and peacemaker Thich Nhat Hanh, the Spa centers on the awareness that we are not separate from the Earth but at one with her, and that by aligning with nature’s rhythms, we can improve harmony within ourselves and between humanity and the planet.

All treatments feature crystal singing bowls tuned to 432 Hz. – the harmonic intonation of nature – plus simple focused breathing techniques to attune body and mind to the Earth’s heartbeat.

Showcasing the celebrated design of Paris-based Reda Amalou, the all-villa resort interprets the Vietnamese tradition of architecture as an art form. All 100 sumptuously appointed villas are thoughtfully positioned to optimize ocean views, beach breezes and phong thuy (feng shui) principles. A fine balance of indoor and outdoor spaces, contemporary artwork and local antiques incorporate characteristic Nam Hai highlights – including a raised central platform wrapped in gossamer netting complete with a padded divan, king-sized bed and bedside bathing area with a lacquered eggshell bath. Accommodations range from one-bedroom villas to five-bedroom luxury compounds. All have outdoor garden showers, and some have additional private grounds, a swimming pool and direct access to Ha My Beach.

Enovation Brands, Inc. Announces the Launch of Gemma di Luna

Italian-centric Importer Adds a Premium Sparkling Moscato in Stand Out Bottle to Their Inimitable Portfolio of Innovative Brands

Enovation Brands, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of Gemma di Luna Moscato to its product line-up. Gemma di Luna embodies the company’s mission to deliver distinctively original, high quality products in equally creative packaging.

Enovation Brands Inc Gemma di Luna

Enovation Brands, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Gemma di Luna Premium Sparkling Moscato to their inimitable portfolio of innovative brands. (PRNewsFoto/Enovation Brands, Inc.)

Gemma di Luna is a premium Italian sparkling wine intended to elevate the Moscato experience. The wine is crafted from premium Moscato grapes grown in Italy’s Piemonte region and boasts a fuller effervescence than the gentle frizzante style typical of moscato for a fully sparkling or “spumante” quality. The wine displays a lovely straw color and an intense, yet delicate bouquet with juicy grape notes and the luscious fresh fruit flavors of nectarine, peach and apple balanced by a vibrant acidity. Winemakers Walter Zuccotto and Michela Bandinelli worked together to create a Sparkling Moscato of superior quality, and at 7.5% ABV, Gemma di Luna also satisfies the growing consumer trend towards lower alcohol choices.

The Gemma di Luna bottle reflects the creativity and quality of the wine inside. The distinctive teal bottle is adorned with a pearl white label and capsule enhanced with a laser foil effect reminiscent of pavé diamonds.

Gemma di Luna represents and delivers on the dedication of Enovation Brands to create, differentiate and innovate for today’s adventurous consumer,” said Lisa Schuster, National Marketing Director. “We will continue to meet their insatiable appetite for discovery, break down barriers and biases in the wine space and unabashedly meet this need head on with relevant, story driven, purposeful products like Gemma di Luna.

The marketing campaign behind Gemma di Luna presents the wine as “Italy’s New Gem” and stems from the meaning of the brand name, “Gem of the Moon“. The color scheme and sparkling aspect of the packaging are reflected across the marketing mix. Social media will inspire and engage consumers with the call to create and share their “Gemma Moments“, while a targeted events platform will engage the bridal and special events communities from both a consumer and trade perspective.logo_GEMMA DI LUNA

Gemma di Luna is available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $16.99. For U.S. sales and distribution inquiries, please contact 305-794-4668 or info@enovationbrands.com. More info is available at www.gemmadiluna.wine.

bev_669_aspect16x9

Wolfgang Puck, has launched CUT Lounge, a new bar and lounge experience at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel.

Together, Wolfgang, Corporate Executive Chef/Partner Lee Hefter and Head Chef Ari Rosenson have named Hilary Henderson as Chef de Cuisine, and Angela Tong as Pastry Chef. Both women have long histories working for the Wolfgang Puck family. Most recently, Chef Tong worked under the direction of Spago Beverly Hills Executive Pastry Chef Della Gossett, while Chef Henderson has worked alongside Chef Ari as Sous Chef of CUT Beverly Hills, in addition to several other roles within the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining collection. Rounding out the new team is Terence Leavey who joins CUT as Beverage Director, having previously worked under Phillip Dunn at Spago Beverly Hills as a sommelier.

Menu

A new Rough CUT menu and expanded beverage offering take center stage at the new bar and lounge. Guests can look forward to a new collection of shaken, stirred and straight-up cocktails, as well as a list of wine and spirits including an extensive selection of rare whiskies from Scotland, Japan and beyond. Soon, a vintage Negroni cart will be found strolling the floor serving custom and classic versions of the signature cocktail tableside. The new Rough CUTs menu ranges from seafood forward dishes such as the crispy kataifi wrapped prawns with garlic chili ponzu and shaved bonito to an Alaskan king crab and Santa Barbara uni “cocktail” on avocado toast. Various meat-centric options including a chicken liver “pastrami” with black bread and honey mustard, and a curry beef puff with Yukon gold potato, sweet onions and nonya curry are also available. Guests can also look forward to a variety of CUT favorites such as the American wagyu steak skewers, truffle grilled cheese and bone marrow toast with oxtail marmalade, as well as a selection of larger, entrée-sized options from a second menu coined “CUT Originals.”

Wolfgang and his wife Gelila Assefa Puck joined forces with Waldo Fernandez of Waldo’s Designs to re-imagine the former sidebar. With seating for more than 60 guests, CUT Lounge now speaks to a new generation of clientele, creating a warm and sophisticated environment. Guests enter the bar and lounge through two oversized steel and glass doors that create a sense of intimacy and allow for seclusion from the busy Hotel lobby. A neutral palette of beige, browns and greys accent the mid-century modern furnishings and finishes throughout the space. Visitors are welcome to relax on one of the various couches or chairs located throughout the lounge or grab a stool at the newly refinished bar. The mix of modern furniture and accent pieces adds a contemporary twist to the space, while maintaining the sophistication and timelessness of the storied Hotel.

CUT is open 6:00–10:00 pm Monday–Thursday, 6:00–11:00 pm Friday, 5:30–11:00 pm Saturday, and closed Sunday. CUT Lounge is open 5:00 pm – 1:30 am Monday–Saturday and is closed Sunday. For reservations at CUT or CUT Lounge call 310 276 8500 or visit www.wolfgangpuck.com.

Johnnie Walker Announces Keep Walking America Campaign, Celebrating Cultural Progress And Diversity In America

This Land Is Your Land, This Land Was Made For You And Me”

This Land Is Your Land,” the iconic song and rallying cry for American unification penned by Woodie Guthrie, is at the heart of Johnnie Walker’s new Keep Walking America campaign. After what was undeniably the most racially divisive presidential election in recent history, it’s safe to say that we all need to remember and get back to celebrating what America should stand for, not what this election represented to the eyes of the world—and our fellow Americans.

For more than 200 years, Johnnie Walker has inspired the world with stories of personal progress and Keep Walking America is another powerful collection of stories reflecting the countless achievements, unwavering optimism and tireless progression of the great people who call America home.

The new 360 marketing campaign, which premiered nationally on November 7th with a 60-second TV spot created by Anomaly and directed by Chris Sargent of Anonymous Content, celebrates the cultural progress and diversity that represents the fabric of America today. The lyrics of “This Land Is Your Land,” read in both English and Spanish, serve as the campaign’s anthem. The meaning behind the lyrics powerfully communicate the core message that America has always been and should always remain an inclusive nation, built on values that celebrate and reward people from all colors and creeds. The film was shot over two weeks and features real storylines of progress from Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Montana, New Orleans, Baltimore, New York and Washington DC.

The message of Keep Walking America is supported by a variety of initiatives on a national and global level, each calling for a united, more open-minded society that can be a catalyst for progress and positive change. The brand recently traveled to Brownsville, Texas, a U.S.-Mexico border town, with celebrated actor, director and activist Wilmer Valderrama, to spotlight the rich community of cross-cultural Americans living in proximity to the border and to hear their personal stories of progress. This initiative mirrors recent global work from Colombia, which shared a message of unification during the ongoing peace treaty negotiations, and the brand’s Ode to Lesvos storyline, a deeply moving film series that sheds light on a community in Greece that has shown heroism and humanity during the Syrian refugee crisis.
