Ketel One Vodka Launches “You Don’t Understand, It Has To Be Perfect” Campaign Honoring Family Tradition, Heritage And Perfection

Brand Launches Witty New 360 Marketing Campaign And Immersive Virtual Reality Experience

At the heart of Ketel One Vodka lies one family’s unwavering passion for crafting the world’s finest spirits. Inspired by over 325 years of distilling expertise, the Nolet Family brings old-world pot still craft and modern distilling techniques together in one flawless process. From Joannes to Jacobus to Carolus Sr., creator of Ketel One Vodka, to Carolus Jr. and Bob Nolet today, each of the 11 generations of Nolet family distillers is tasked with upholding a legacy of distilling excellence. Some may consider the Nolets a little obsessive, but those individuals just don’t understand. Everything must be done with meticulous attention to detail, because the family name is riding on every bottle of Ketel One Vodka.

We take our work very seriously, not ourselves,” said Carl Nolet Jr., 11th Generation Nolet Family Distillery. “The stories we tell are all true and based on family events, beliefs and the pressure of upholding 11 generations of legacy for generations to come.”

From this truth, a new campaign was born. Developed in partnership with Barton F. Graf, Ketel One’s new 360 marketing campaign “You Don’t Understand, It Has To Be Perfect” has fun with generational pressure and its result: the obsessive attention to detail and great lengths the Nolet family goes to in order to ensure every batch of Ketel One Vodka is perfect. This campaign represents a first glimpse at the authentically Dutch and witty side of the Nolet family.

Speaking to the next generation of vodka distillers, the series of eight humorous “training videos” directed by Canada made its national TV debut on Monday, November 21st, airing on a number of networks. In addition to the reach Ketel One will garner through high impact TV, the films will live in digital, primarily on YouTube, Hulu and programmatically across the web. OOH and social media, principally Facebook and Instagram, will also serve as touchpoints for the campaign.

Carl Jr. stated, “Consumers don’t just buy what you do, they buy why you do it. Through this campaign and our new Virtual Reality experience, consumers can now experience first-hand why Ketel One is made the way it is.” The category is saturated with products flaunting claims about how they are made. However, unlike Ketel One, very few have an authentic explanation for why they are driven to create quality spirits. “Lucky for us, we have a true story to tell about living up to a legacy, striving for perfection in every batch, and the pressure to please one’s family,” said Carl. “These motivations are universally relatable. My family and I are proud of what we have achieved over the last 325 years, but rest assured, we are just getting started.”

The witty tone of voice, spirit of perfection and meticulous attention to detail will inform all future initiatives for Ketel One Vodka. This includes cocktail strategy, consumer events and bartender engagement. “We have always considered talented bartenders around the world part of our extended family,” said Carl Nolet Jr.As gatekeepers of the brand, bartenders have been vital in making Ketel One Vodka one of the world’s most recommended vodkas, and we will continue to learn from them. Stella Artois Leaves Its Mark with a New Take on Holiday Hosting

A continuation of the brand’s successful “Host One to Remember” summer platform, the holiday campaign celebrates timeless hosting moments, re-imagined for the winter season. To share the story of its own Belgian beginnings and legacy of hosting, Stella Artois revealed a series of new creative components this season including out-of-home, digital, print and a set of :15 and :30 television ads. To bring the brand’s holiday hosting origins to life during this special time of year, the new spot showcases Stella Artois’ founder and master brewer struggling to deliver his first batch of beer on a snowy Christmas Eve in Leuven, until he gets some help from a herd of reindeer.

Make the Holiday Occasion More Special with Stella Artois

Stella Artois is further encouraging people to put their personal touch on hosting during the holidays through a series of partnerships, as well as online and off-premise activations that inspire others to “Host One to Remember”.

  • A Stella Artois Take on Holiday Cocktail Menus: Stella Artois tapped notable mixologists and chefs from across the country to create original cocktail recipes featuring Stella Artois Cidre, as well as unique holiday food pairings that are perfect for impressing guests while entertaining at home – such as a Stella Artois Cidre Sangria Punch paired with Spanish charcuterie, or the Stella Artois Cidre Coconut Spice Cocktail designed to complement the flavors of spicier dishes.

Borrowing from that same heritage, Stella Artois will put a modern day twist on an old Belgian tradition, the “King’s Feast” – a celebration of Belgium’s unique culture observed every year on November 15th. Stella Artois has collaborated with a few notable hosts to help bring the “King’s Feast” to the U.S. for the first time, and treat guests to a sophisticated holiday feast hosted by queen of the kitchen Chrissy Teigen and master of contemporary Belgian cuisine and former Stella Artois brand ambassador, Bart Vandaele.

When I think about hosting a party to remember, the first thing that comes to mind is food – especially during the holidays,” said Teigen. “I love putting my own spin on traditional dishes when I’m cooking for friends and family – and I always include Stella Artois as the perfect addition for ultimate holiday fun!

In celebration of the campaign, Teigen and Chef Vandaele will share how they are putting their personal touch on the holiday season – including the creation of a modern day “King’s Feast” menu designed to complement the flavor profile of Stella Artois. Teigen will unveil an original recipe for her own take on Belgian mussels with Thai flavors, Chrissy’s Spicy Mussels with Stella Artois, alongside Chef Vandaele’s twist on Belgium’s Classic Beef Stew, Stella Artois King’s Feast Carbonnade a la Flamande, both made with the iconic Stella Artois lager.

Holiday Entertaining: Hennessy Pays Tribute to the Roots of its Savoir-Faire With the Master Blender’s Selection Nº1

At Hennessy, Cognac is not made – it is crafted.

Now, Master Blender Yann Fillioux reveals “Master Blender’s Selection Nº1”, the first in a series of single-batch bespoke Cognacs.

Every artist, composer and master craftsman has a secret project on the side, an endeavor pursued simply for creativity’s sake. For Hennessy Master Blender Yann Fillioux, it was Master Blender’s Selection N°1“, which in contrast to the many celebrated Cognacs he has composed throughout his distinguished career, this latest blend is a very personal signature that was only ever meant to be produced in a single, limited batch.

master-blenders-selection-no-1-by-hennessy

Master Blender’s Selection No.1 By Hennessy

In French, a project like Master Blender’s Selection N°1 is called a “coup de coeur” — literally, a heart-stopper, love at first sight or, as in this case, a passion project. It began in Maison Hennessy’s reserves, one of the largest, most extraordinary reserves of eaux-de-vie in the world.

As the guardian of Hennessy’s reserves for half a century, Yann Fillioux knows every eau-de-vie stored there. Master Blender’s Selection N°1 came to life during a blending session, a moment of unbridled creativity. Innovative, robust and completely devoid of artifice, it is a truly bespoke creation.

MASTER BLENDER’S SELECTION N°1: A unique signature

Creating Cognac requires patience and a constant dialogue between time, the elements, raw materials and skilled hands and minds. Little by little, each exchange gives rise to something precious that can only be realized through passion and a savoir-faire honed over 250 years of Cognac making.

With Master Blender’s Selection N°1, Fillioux captures the essence of his art. This one-of-a-kind blend captures a particular moment in time and embodies his constant quest for excellence, extraordinary sensory memories and a perfect knowledge of Hennessy’s reserves.

Fillioux and the Tasting Committee structured the Master Blender’s Selection N°1 by defining a first selection of eaux-de-vie. They then narrowed their selection down to 80 to 100 eaux-de-vie and grouped them according to their elegance, character and suppleness. The eaux-de-vie were then aged in both young and old French oak casks. When the time was right, the Cognac was bottled at 43°C – “cask strength” – in order to release its powerful aromatic tones as well as delicate, lingering spicy notes. Crafted as a single batch, it is a limited edition Cognac with a round and rich subtlety that has a bright amber color with a golden sheen. When it embraces both nose and palate, there is an unmistakable presence of lightly grilled, unshelled almonds and candied apricots with a faintly sweet flavor. It is recommended that it be tasted neat or with three bright ice cubes. Continue reading
