The 50th anniversary is a special milestone in the history of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, which has been part of the social fabric of Hong Kong since opening in 1963. “The Mandarin,” as it is often referred to by locals, has been embraced by royalty, heads of state, celebrities, leaders of finance and industry—and by its sophisticated guests from all over the world. When the hotel completed its renovation in 2006, the hotel was completely transformed, but was careful to preserve its much-loved character and soul. In a city that is changing so rapidly, the long-standing history and heritage of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is one of its greatest assets – which make this celebration so special.
