Mandarin Oriental, Santiago is proud to partner with leading Franco-Chilean vineyard Lapostolle Chile to create two signature wines designed exclusively for the hotel. The two appropriately named wines—MO Carménère and MO Blanc—will make their official debut at the prestigious Descorchados Wine Fair, held at the hotel on December 19.

The wine creation was the vision of Executive Chef Germán Ghelfi, who forged the partnership with the Lapostolle winemaking team, a renowned Franco-Chilean vineyard in the Colchagua Valley. Working in tandem with the vintners, Chef Ghelfi looked to develop blends that reflected Chilean ‘Wine Country’ while also providing a smooth finish to pair well with Mandarin Oriental’s excellent gastronomic quality. The Blanc, the more complex of the two, is created from the vineyard’s Semillon-Chilean varietal grapes, producing a dry, full-bodied white. The Carménère, often referred to as the preferred red of the Chilean people, has hints of warm spice and fruit, pairing perfectly with the more robust cuisine offered at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Senso.

The wine’s label was designed to showcase not only the Mandarin Oriental signature gold fan, but the distinctive bee-hive trellis found throughout the property. Each will be priced at approximately 25,000 CLP and can only be purchased at the hotel.
