The architect of the project is Pascal Desprez while the design of Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, rustic yet sophisticated, was created by renowned French architects, Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier. With its Berber and Andalusian-Arabic influences, the resort provides re-laxed and stylish luxury for the cosmopolitan traveler. From celebrated local chef Meryem Cherkaoui, Mes’Lalla is the property’s fine dining Moroccan restaurant, offering a tantalizing choice of traditional dishes created with a unique modern touch. Named after the fresh green olives that can be found in the region of Meknès, Mes’Lalla promises guests a unique and memorable dining experience. Located in the East Wing of the Palatial Lobby Riad, the restaurant’s décor serves as the perfect backdrop to Chef Cherkaoui’s stunning creations. Featuring traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, Mes’lalla enjoys a relaxed contemporary feel with indoor and outdoor areas as well as a chic bar serving a range of wines, cocktails, champagnes and non-alcoholic drinks.
Born and raised in Rabat, Meryem Cherkaoui is a renowned chef widely praised for her modern interpretation of classic Moroccan recipes. Using organic ingredients sourced from small co-operatives across the Kingdom, chef Cherkaoui takes pride in creating delicious dishes that both inspire and delight. On leaving school, chef Cherkaoui moved to Lyon where she studied at the famous Institut Paul Bocuse. On graduation, she worked for some of France’s most prestigious hotels including Le Majestic in Cannes and Le Crillon in Paris, before returning to Morocco to open her own restaurant in 2002. Joining Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech in 2015, chef Cherkaoui promises to showcase her unique talents, blending French techniques with the delicious flavours of Morocco in her own recipes and those passed down from her grandmother.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech is a unique environment featuring expansive spa suites with private terraces and gardens designed for outdoor treatments.
