Images photographed by Lev Radin

For more than two decades Deola Sagoe has had a singular aim and achievement: “To enable our customers to reveal through our design, their unique, albeit inexplicable, `Je ne sais quoi ‘ …Which is always a joy to behold.” She has  a unique approach to her craft that has endeared her to fans and followers all over the world. Using African fabrics, hand-woven materials, and contemporising almost-lost traditional African techniques, Deola designs present a unique vision and attitude for the modern woman.

Deola describes the woman who she designs for: “The Deola Sagoe woman has the mysterious and engaging complexity that is a gift to all women. One day she is dead serious the next she has the naughtiest sense of humor. One day she is all woman, the next she is ingénue. She definitely enjoys standing out, she is not a worker bee, but finds it far more interesting when everyone has a different point of view and yet everyone can still get along. She is colorful – she uses color to mirror her mood. She is vital – energetic – not the shy, retiring, type, but she also knows the appropriate time to hold her peace. I like the Deola Sagoe woman because she’s really like a contribution to life…

The Snorkelboard Factory Launches New Product Into Watersports Industry, Great for all ages

The Snorkelboard Factory launches new product, The Snorkelboard®, a body board with embedded anti-fog and anti-leak goggles

The Snorkelboard Factory has introduced a new product, the Snorkelboard®, a personal body board with embedded anti-fog and anti-leak goggles. The official product launch took place at the 111th annual American International Toy Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Constructed and sealed with EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) and an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene ) high density foam core for added durability and strength, the Snorkelboard® is designed to prevent the snorkel mask from filling up with water, fogging and completely removes the need for “perfect fit” as the Snorkelboard®’s one-size-fits-all mask is embedded directly into the board. This all-in-one thin, sleek design allows for light transport and easy storage. The Snorkelboard® is affordable, is available in a wide variety of designs and colours, can be enjoyed by all ages.

The Snorkelboard® combines advanced technology and the highest quality graded materials for solid flotation, stability, and ease of paddling, guaranteeing a smooth water entry line for maximum glide-style.

Murray Scott, creator of the Snorkelboard® and owner of The Snorkelboard Factory, comments, “The Snorkelboard Factory has been monitoring trends in the watersports industry for over fifteen years to develop a brand new, unique water and snorkeling experience. The sport of Snorkelboarding will soon become a household word because it is really a two-sports-in-one board.”

The Snorkelboard® was developed out of the research and insights that conclude that consumers are looking for experiential purchases while maintaining a sense of purpose and functionality. Statistics show that snorkeling is one of the top ten most popular marine activities while there are close to 1.5 million body boarders worldwide. By merging the sports of bodyboarding and snorkeling, The Snorkelboard Factory has captured two very successful markets in one product; thus creating a new niche in the world of water sports. This new product will not only provide the foundational benefits needed for safety and utility but allow for a positive experience for all snorkelboarders by allowing them to enjoy the wonders of snorkeling comfortably. Body board enthusiasts will have the added goggle feature while conventional snorkelers will have the added support and buoyancy that body boarders already enjoy. This is “a new way to sea life with your head above water.”

No longer will you have to worry about your mask filling up with water, blocking your view with fog or pressing up against the bridge of your nose. Gone are the days of re-breathing spent air left in your snorkel tube or interrupting your experience to equalize because, with the Snorkelboard® your head never touches the water. This all-in-one thin, sleek design allows for easy storage and leaves carrying heavy equipment in the dust! Available in a wide range of designs and colours, your “at-the-beach-riding-waves-lookat- me” Snorkelboard® experience can be as personalized as you want.

Serious Strategy

Ages 8 to Adult / 2 Players
Set in the Imperial Garden of Classical Japan, Niya centers on a dark political conspiracy among two influential clans. On every turn, players replace a garden tile with one of their clan tokens. The next player can only exchange a token for a garden tile that has an element in common with the previously chosen tile. The first to position their clan in a row, square, or blockade will win control of the garden…and power at court! A simple yet sophisticated strategy game, Niya captivates players young and old.

Ages 8 to Adult / 2 Players
In the Highlands of Medieval Scotland, an epic battle is taking place underfoot! Rivaling rat clans clash in a bid for the throne in this two player strategy game. Both players have a hand of eight cards, numbered 0 to 7, with each character on the card possessing a special power. Cards are revealed in a calculated duel with the victory going to the higher number, unless the special power overrules. The first player to win four rounds claims the kingdom for their clan. This minimalistic wonder plays in just minutes but packs rich game play and plenty of suspense.

Images photographed by Lev Radin

Since its inception in 2001, JOIE has been one of the most sought after contemporary brands catering to the savvy, fashion minded, modern woman. Understatedly chic, JOIE’s designs are constantly inspired by the Southern California lifestyle and its casual, yet sophisticated way of life. Originally known for its signature cargos, JOIE has emerged as a lifestyle brand, a complete collection of ready to wear and accessories.

The JOIE aesthetic, both modern and timeless in its appeal, draws its influence from vintage creations while successfully maintaining a fresh approach to fashion. Be it Paris or California, the JOIE girl enjoys wearing casual, comfortable clothes accented by her travels throughout the world. The concept has always been “Casual, Comfortable and Luxurious.” Therefore, each piece that is designed encompasses a balance of these three key elements…one cannot exist without the other.

Azria is familiar with accomplishment. Prior to his time at JOIE, Azria partnered with Vince Camuto as CEO and head designer to create VCS footwear (which later became the Camuto Group) where he led the company to outstanding and rapid growth. In 2004, while enjoying the challenges he faced in design and in management, Azria accepted the offer to purchase a portion of the contemporary line JOIE. With great success, he then became sole owner and Creative Director in 2007.

Schneider Optics Launches the New iPro Lens System for iPhone 5, 5S, 4/4S, Galaxy S4, & iPads

The iPro Lens System of versatile interchangeable lenses has been expanded so it is now compatible with even more devices including iPhone 5, 5S, and 4/4S, as well as Samsung Galaxy S4, and current iPads.

Designed by professional lens and filter maker, Schneider Optics, the iPro Lens System is purpose-built to enable professional quality photographic and video imagery with smartphones and iPads by adding the benefits of interchangeable Macro, Wide Angle, Super Wide, Fisheye, and Telephoto lenses to capture more in every shot.

These five interchangeable lenses optically capture the image without sacrificing valuable pixels. For a wider field of view, the space expanding Wide Angle adds 35% and the Super Wide adds 50% more coverage so there’s no more backing up against the wall to get a large group or object in a confined space. For wide action or scenic shots there’s nothing like the Fisheye’s 165-degrees for extraordinary angles. The 2X Tele compresses space getting close-up to the action so shots from the audience of sporting events or the school play let you zero in on the subject. The Macro lens has 2.5X magnification and provides razor-sharp details giving small subjects or objects a big presence. The iPro Lens System’s professional optics are simple to use, easy to handle, and smartly self-storing in an integral black case that doubles as a handle.

Now there are purpose-built cases for the Galaxy S4 as with the iPhone 5, 5S, and 4/4S, so the lenses simply thread on and are ready to shoot. With a slide-on design, the rugged 2-piece cases offer fast installation and removal and an easy-to-handle soft touch feel. A quick bayonet mount securely fastens the lenses to the custom iPro cases.

The new iPro Lens Clip is designed to securely fit the latest models of iPad Mini, iPad Mini with retina display, iPad Air and iPad 2. Owners have the versatility to use the same iPro lenses on either the smart device’s built-in iSight camera or Facetime camera. The Clip is quick and easy to install without altering the iPad in any way, so interchanging iPro lenses from device to device is a breeze.

The iPro System is available in kits or by individual lenses or components, so the user can customize a system to suit their needs. To order, or for more information, visit www.iprolens.com.

Sydney Sparkles as Baz Luhrmann Directs the Largest Outdoor Ballroom Dancing Event Ever Seen In Australia

In a run up to the debut of the forthcoming opening of Strictly Ballroom The Musical with previews from 25 March, hundreds of couples danced on the forecourt of Sydney Opera House today in a specially choreographed Strictly Sydney moment.  Strictly Ballroom The Musical, under the direction of international celebrity producer and director, Baz Luhrmann,  is exclusive to Sydney, secured by Destination NSW, the lead Government agency for the New South Wales (NSW) tourism and major events sectors.

Arriving at the Sydney Lyric in March 2014, STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL will tango, sashay and bogo pogo its way on to the stage thanks to the original creative team behind the classic 1992 film, including director and co-writer Baz Luhrmann, set and costume designer Catherine Martin, choreographer John “Cha Cha” O’Connell and co-writer Craig Pearce.

STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL is the inspiring story of a championship ballroom dancer who defies all the rules to follow his heart. This uplifting and courageous tale originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann devised with a group of other students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1984, before dancing into the hearts of audiences worldwide as the award winning feature film. In a brand new all-singing, all-dancing theatrical production, STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL will bring this iconic story to life, featuring the beloved music from the original film as well as new compositions.

Sydneysiders had been invited to register to participate in this event which was truly a Sydney community event.  Dancers of all abilities arrived on site early to register dressed in every conceivable style of ballroom dancing attire.  Emulating Scott Hastings from the film Strictly Ballroom all the men were given an iconic white Chesty Bonds singlet to wear and each participant received a memento specially designed by Catherin Martin.

Excitement reached fever pitch when the two stars of Strictly Ballroom The MusicalThomas Lacey and Phoebe Panaretos, emerged in glittering costumes atop the sails of the Sydney Opera House.  A chopper circled high above Sydney Harbour and captured the entire event.

Baz Luhrmann said “Most people know Strictly Ballroom as a movie but it began, as a piece of theatre and now it is an all-singing, all-dancing, live, stage musical.  But it is more than that. As a show it reaches out not only to the audience but also to the community to become involved. That’s what dancing does. It allows everybody to participate so it seemed like a fun and a fitting idea for us all to meet on the forecourt of the Opera House and create a scene together from Strictly Ballroom.

Strictly Ballroom the Musical opens exclusive to Sydney, on March 25 2014, at Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star. Travel packages are available from Showbiz at showbiz.com.au/strictlyballroom.
