Discover Design, a destination for buyers seeking unique products from high-design and innovative companies, is nearly sold-out for the 2014 International Home + Housewares Show. Discover Design is a juried category and located in the Dine + Design Expo in the South Building.

Crowds flood the Show’s Dine + Design Expo at 2013 International Home + Housewares Show

Among the 100+ exhibitors, buyers will discover new exhibitors including Ary Trays, David Rasmussen, Ekobo Ecology, Finell, Make International, Rosendahl Timepieces, R.F. Yamakawa, Scandinavian Child and Winestor. Well-known returning suppliers for 2014 are Alessi, Blomus, Charles Viancin, Govino, Joseph Joseph, Koziol, Nambe, Present Time, Robert Welch, Room Copenhagen and Sagaform.

Design Debut, the Show’s design incubator program located within Discover Design, expands this year with 10 new-to-the-Show exhibitors who will bring their special brand of innovation to the buyer audience at the International Home + Housewares Show. Participating this year are Andie Olive, Chisel & Mouse, Exclusivas Saigo, Johnny Hermann, Maia Ming Designs, Manual, Materious, Nicole Porter, Port Living and S2BH.

Other events planned for Discover Design include:

  • A Discover Design Gallery showcasing products competing for Global Innovation Award (gia). The gallery is open to registered buyers and media.
  • An invitation-only Discover Design Specialty Retailer & Media Reception at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the Gallery where buyers and media can mingle with the exhibitors and their designers.
  • A Discover Design Global Innovation Awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17.
  • A Discover Design Lounge with Wine Bar and Cafe.

Once again, Discover Design companies are eligible to compete for a Global Innovation Award (gia) for product innovation and booth design. Each company can submit two new products and one collection for consideration for a gia award. The 11 winners will be announced at the invitation-only gia dinner on Sunday, March 16, held at the Radisson Blu Chicago.

The 2014 International Home + Housewares Show features more than 2,100 exhibitors from 125 countries and attracts more than 60,000 attendees. The Show opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15 and closes at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18. To register for a Show badge or for more information, please visit
